Winter sketchbookpages, January 2026
These pages of my sketchbooks reflect themes I’ve recently found beautiful: the shifting sky, winter-dry plants, leafless branches of trees against the sky.
Sketches about the colour Blue, January 2026
The blue reflects the cold weather here at the moment. Recently, it was even snowing.
I want to explore the subject of landscape drawing a little further, as I am surrounded not by a vibrant city but by nature. I find it interesting to draw the landscape not as it would appear in a photo, but to interpret it more freely, allowing for a personal choice of colour and form.
Sketches with Birds, January 2026
Some sketches from the last few days. I’m still trying to keep my colour palette quite limited. I also found it fun to think about “patterns” like the squares of a fence, the waves as short lines, or the branches of a fir tree as some kind of tinsel.
It’s very cold and windy here at the moment, so drawing on location means frozen hands. But I took some photos for inspiration while out on a walk which I used for these drawings.
Walks on Helgoland, January 2026
Some quick observational sketches of Helgoland I made over the last few days on location. I sometimes added elements such as the little bicycle, the running dog, or the rain in order to include some narrative in the scenes. In general, I was thinking about a reduced colour palette and a variation of thin and thick lines.
